How to stop automatic updates on Windows 10 | Windows Central
I have 4 x64 machines with Windows 10 Pro installed. Two of the machines where upgraded from Windows 8. One of the machines was upgraded from 8. The last machine new came with Windows 10 Home and was upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. I am aware of the ‘metered’ connection trick to stop this from happening in Home.
I am aware of ‘Defer upgrades’. I do not want to use either of these two options. When I do this this is true on all machines : 1. The change does not appear initially still says Updates will be automatically downloaded and installed I am paraphrasing.
This is good, it is what I want. I believe that this occurs because I am set to check for updates every hour. I believe the setting does not really change until a check for updates occurs. Eventually over the next couple of days I will shut down a computer and see that it is installing updates.
How is this happening? I believe that I have disabled this. I really, really need control over what is going to be updated on my machines. I am a programmer. I want to see what is going to be updated before the update occurs I will read the description of the KB and read the file list.
I absolutely kills me when 3 or 4 machines are downloading updates at a time in fact even when one is. Yes, I am aware of ‘Choose how updates are delivered’ and ‘Get updates from and send updates to’ PCs on my local network. Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.
