The other mode is Hunting Season where you actually get to manage a deer herd where you take care of them, plant the crops, and thin out the ones that are not good enough for you. It is a pretty cool idea and a mode later games would improve upon.

You have some great locations to hunt in here. There is a great selection of deer for you to hunt down as well as some larger prey if you are willing to do the leg work, but these are much, much harder to come by so that can be a tad on the frustrating side if you ask me. Deer Hunter does not mess around when it comes to your gear. There is a great selection of guns that you can use, you can actually take two with you on a hunt which I liked.

You also have a range of gear such as calls, scents, and bait to try and lure an animal to just where you want them.
